Things That Need To Be Fixed In America

We are at war on two or more fronts but we cannot forget the things that have gotten screwed up on the home front either. One important note: Except where I will definitely specify that government do something, I will steadfastly repeat that the Federal Government must divorce itself completely from passing any laws having to do with social decisions. Those decisions should be left up to the states.

Oh, I know that each state will have a different decision! So What? You know what that’s called – No? It’s called FREEDOM! There have been many instances where one state said ‘yes’ to a particular subject and others said, ‘no.’ Again so what? I am suggesting returning the Country to some semblance of the great Country we USED to have, not necessarily that the Federal Government has to do it. As a matter of fact, much of what is indicated in this Chapter are things that have come about BECAUSE of government interference. Many of the items mentioned will need to be repealed by the Federal Government since they stuck their nose into all those things where it didn’t belong. Government cannot EVER succeed in passing laws to control human nature! It is obvious, when reviewing the actions of the Federal government in the past 50+ years, that protecting our borders since 1985, developing a military that will protect us and handling the infrastructure will require all the effort the Federal government can handle without them getting involved with social decisions. The events on the Southern Border, the 9/11 attack and the condition of our utilities and roads certainly support that!

Roe vs. Wade, etc.

Once and for all, decide how we want to handle killing and then leave it alone! We decide we will not use the death penalty for the most horrendous crimes, we decide we can kill unborn and near born babies with no penalty, we decide we have to fight a horrific war without damaging any civilians, we are pushing for ‘cloning’ for the most heinous of reasons, etc. Many of these ideas are diametrically opposed to others. Let’s get it right and keep it that way! Get the Federal government completely out of anything having to do with social decisions. This problem has come about because of government involvement and because the liberals are so completely inconsistent in their approach. I suspect this is done on purpose – for what nefarious reason I cannot imagine. The Supreme Court on 4/17/07 decided with a 5 to 4 vote (what an overwhelming majority) that partial birth abortion was not acceptable. Interesting verdict because it was a case which, if things had gone properly, would never have been heard since the original Roe vs. Wade case shouldn’t have been heard in the first place. KEEP THE COURTS OUT OF SOCIAL DECISIONS. THOSE DECISIONS SHOULD BE LEFT UP TO THE STATES OR THE CITIZENS.

Invasion from the South - Secure the Borders

This one is so simple – CLOSE THE BORDERS, enforce the laws already on the books! Do NOT penalize border patrol agents who are trying to enforce the laws! All border patrol agents who are incarcerated should be pardoned and returned to duty! The D.A. (Sutton) who penalized them should be behind bars himself! (I don’t need to go into any more detail here.) THIS ONE, BY CONSTITUTION, IS THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT’S RESPONSIBILITY. ANYONE SEE ANYTHING WRONG WITH HOW THEY’VE HANDLED IT UP UNTIL NOW?

Judicial Activism – Get Rid of Judges Who Legislate from the Bench.

Appoint judges who will use common sense and ethics in their deliberations. Disbar judges who decide to make the law themselves. The Constitution is very clear on this subject – The Legislative Body makes law, the judges implement it according to the law. Judges who over-step their responsibility should to be impeached. There also should be term limits for judges; seems like 10 years would be about right. THIS ONE HAS TO BE CHANGED BY THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT SINCE THEY APPOINT THE FEDERAL JUDGES.

Enact The Fair Tax.

The federal income tax system is a disgrace to the human race. -- Jimmy Carter, 38th President of the United States (Notice Carter didn’t do anything about it)!

It's time to eliminate the over burdensome income tax and go to the Fair Tax system (H.R. 25, which already has one sponsor and 63 co-sponsors and S. 1025 in the Senate which has one sponsor and 4 co-sponsors). The number of problems this would solve, the amount of money it would save the taxpayers, the more money it would put into the coffers and the fairness of the tax is absolutely amazing. GET IT DONE!

I know it will eliminate the loop holes for you elected officials but it is fair in that the individual will have control over how much he/she is taxed – spend more, get taxed. Stop spending, stop getting taxed. A usage tax is far fairer than what exists today and there is a GREAT additional benefit – the IRS is eliminated! For those of you who have not read “The Fair Tax Book” by Neal Boortz and Congressman John Linder must get a copy and become familiar with the concept. IT’S TIME FOR THE CHANGE IN OUR TAXATION LAWS! THIS ONE HAS TO BE HANDLED BY THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT SINCE THEY STARTED INCOME TAXATION IN THE FIRST PLACE! ITS UP TO THAT AUGUST BODY TO REPEAL THE INCOME TAX AMENDMENT TO THE CONSTITUTION!

Exposing the ACLU, the NEA and Labor Unions For What They Are.

It is time that action was taken against the organizations that undermine, at every turn, the normal living conditions of the whole Country with apparently no good reason except to drive the Country toward a totalitarian form of government. I’ve been asked many times what I mean by a totalitarian government – for those too busy to look it up, the dictionary definition is: “TOTAL + AUTHORITARIAN. A government in which one political group maintains complete control under a dictator. One who favors such a state.” That is precisely what I mean when I use the words ‘totalitarian state.’ The ACLU lawyers apparently have difficulty in understanding the Constitution, the Labor Unions would sooner run a company out of business than keep jobs for their workers and the NEA has destroyed and continues to dumb down the government run schools. There once was a time for labor unions – THAT TIME HAS PASSED! THAT SHOULD BE LEFT TO THE LOCALITIES AND STATES.

Pledge of Allegiance.

Pass a law that requires the Pledge of Allegiance to be recited by every school child in every grade, every morning while facing the flag (one of which should stand in every classroom). It wouldn’t hurt to recite the Lords Prayer, also. Of course, it will be necessary for the Federal Government to release all ties to the federally controlled public school system. THAT SHOULD BE LEFT TO THE LOCALITIES AND STATES.

Marriage and the Family.

Make marriage a very, very difficult bond to break. We all take an oath when we marry. That oath should be understood and followed by the courts except in very unusual circumstances. Children deserve the two parents who conceived them. It takes two strong parents to raise a child (or children) despite the fact that Ms. Clinton thinks differently. Children need a male father and a female mother. It’s the way of the species, let’s leave it that way! The laws need to also be changed to provide the Grandparents and Great Grandparents standing in the Court system, It wouldn’t hurt to also give foster parents, who work extremely hard for these children, a standing in court to assist in doing what’s best for the children. After all, they spend more time with the children than the birth parents ever thought of doing and certainly know the children’s needs more intimately. THAT SHOULD BE LEFT TO THE LOCALITIES AND STATES.

Exposing Liberal Media Bias.

We have just got to find some way to get the media back to reporting the news accurately so that the American people can again return to believing what they pay to read in the newspapers and on TV. It has gotten to the point where I am sure when I read a news story or hear one on TV that it probably isn’t correct and will be changed at least four or five times before someone really comes out with the truth. I don’t need to go into a long list. You all have seen and heard enough so you’ve become jaded and don’t believe anything you see or hear. Global warming is a wonderful example! THAT SHOULD BE LEFT TO THE LOCALITIES AND STATES.

Strongly Attack the Terrorists Worldwide.

It would help a great deal in this endeavor by re-Instituting the draft. This will accomplish several things:

Keep our security forces at a level that we can handle any situation which arises. (We sure can use some additional forces trained to handle the type of door to door removal of insurgents. We also need to go after Iran and Syria but we have no personnel left).

This will shed some fat off our kids

It will teach them respect for authority

It will teach them respect for themselves (no long hair, no baggy clothes, and no mutilation of their bodies).

Since the women want equal rights the draft should apply to both men and women.

The President has it right! We must attack the terrorist organizations at every opportunity. To do that over a sustained period of time we are going to need a large well equipped fighting machine! OBVIOUSLY THIS IS A FEDERAL GOVERNMENT RESPONSIBILITY AS ARE ALL THINGS HAVING TO DO WITH PROTECTING THE COUNTRY AND ITS SOVEREIGNTY. How have they done so far?

Community Decency.

It is time for the media and the ‘thin skinned’ to stop the absolute silliness of blowing out of proportion every word, nuance or facial expression. The constant drum beat of ‘he/she should apologize’ is absolutely stupid! Just how in the world would an apology about what someone said solve anything? It has gotten to the point that people like Al Sharpton and Jessie Jackson go completely off the deep end of the pier (only if the accused is black). Their own actions are anything but lily white and yet I have heard no apologies from either of them about anything (Not that an apology would accomplish anything). If the media would quit giving these idiots a platform for their rantings they would immediately stop. THAT SHOULD BE LEFT TO THE LOCALITIES AND STATES.

Keeping Christ in Christmas.

Just what is wrong with the celebration of Christmas? Apparently – everything (according to the ACLU). The excuse they use for their atheism is the ‘separation of church and state’ which doesn’t even exist (See Appendix B for detailed analysis). The attack on Christianity attacks the very core of the basis for our Constitution and way of life but the people is this Country bent upon driving toward a totalitarian government will do all they can to destroy the very Judeo-Christian philosophy which has proven to stand us in good stead for 200 years. What I fail to understand is: Why do the secularists insist on staying in the Country and working hard to destroy it instead of going to a Country where Dictatorship already exists? There is no reason for any case having to do with religion being brought before any Federal judge! THAT SHOULD BE LEFT TO THE LOCALITIES AND STATES.

Exposing Political Correctness.

Clinton coined the term ‘Political Correctness’.’ That term has come to mean ‘lying at every opportunity’! The politicians (except for a small minority – Joe Lieberman in particular) never ever tell how they feel about anything. As a matter of fact if they tell you one thing you can be assured the opposite is true! Even the people have picked it up. Why is it that everything that smells bad is picked up by the multitude? Let’s get rid of the term and call it what it is – lying! Let’s put truth back in our society! It would help a great deal if the media people would stop using the term. EVERY CITIZEN IN THE COUNTRY IS RESPONSIBLE TO IMPLEMENT THIS TO REMOVE THE POLITICAL CORRECTNESS SILLINESS FROM OUR THOUGHTS.

Eliminating the Stupid and Unnecessary Privacy Restrictions.

The government instituted the fairness and privacy acts. Both of these apparently apply to us peons but do not apply to the government. I have to sign a paper every time I go to the doctor called a HIPPA. I have read it once but have no idea anymore what it means and as far as I can tell it’s just another piece of paper required by the government. I still haven’t figured out what it’s for.

I just sign it and let’s get on with things. There is more that doesn’t get done (or takes forever) because of the privacy act than anything else in the Country. I even have trouble getting my medical records transferred to another doctor. These over burdening laws are as a result of one person squeaking in a legislator’s ear about something! Let’s cut it out and return to some semblance of normalcy! It appears that no one, except those who have something to hide, benefits from all the ‘privacy’ laws. Even the Federal Government doesn’t follow them but that’s not new. The Federal Government has long ago forgotten ‘The Rule of Law.’

The House is ready (at this writing) to try and pass a bill that would limit the number of messages received by Congress from their constituents. To put it bluntly, members of Congress are tired of getting our e-mails and phone calls, and H.R. 984 is designed to keep information from you that might inspire you to call or write your representative. Why do they need to do this? If they hadn’t gotten themselves involved into subjects they have no business to be involved with there would be no need to close off input from the masses because they wouldn’t be screwing up so much. Notice one of the big items they are responsible for is royally screwed up. Can you guess which one I’m referring to? Boy, are you smart! Of course it’s immigration. What a top notch job they have done, huh? We would not have been able to stop the insanity in the amnesty bill if this legislation had gone through first! Now they are trying to implement another that they have no business doing! Notice the never ending trend to do more and be responsible to the people less and less? What do you call that? – Dictatorship! I have a solution to their problem – vote the way your constituents want and use just a little common sense (if you have any). SINCE THESE WERE IMPLEMENTED BY THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT THEY MUST BE REMOVED BY THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT!

Control of the Internet and TV content.

The smut, crude sites and abominable stuff which is available on the internet and is increasingly available on TV needs to be controlled! I hesitate to keep suggesting that we need government controls. The controls I am suggesting is that the internet and TV control themselves as TV used to and Congress force them to do so rather than the government doing it. THAT SHOULD BE LEFT TO THE LOCALITIES AND STATES.

Return Congress to “By the People and For the People” instead of “By Congress and For Congress.”

I SHOULDN’T HAVE TO EXPLAIN THIS ONE, SO I WON’T! I ALSO SHOULDN’T HAVE TO EXPLAIN WHO HAS RESPONSIBILITY!

Roll back Congressional Pay to 1960 (which is when Congress stopped supporting its constituents)

It seems to me that since the middle of the past century, Congress has done little or nothing that the Constitution states they should do. The number of restrictive laws that have been passed to satisfy the minority or the Congress themselves has been overwhelming. Every time one of those laws is passed the majority of America (that pays most of the bills) is shafted! Why should we continue to pay people who accomplish little to support the people who pay their salary? OBVIOUSLY ONLY CONGRESS CAN ACCOMPLISH THIS ONE (WHICH, OF COURSE WE KNOW THEY WILL NOT)!

Drastic Changes to Our Adoption and Foster Care Laws.

The changes required in the foster care and adoption laws require a complete book in themselves. Read “There Are No Bad Kids” and “Never Underestimate the Arrogance or Stupidity of Government.” These two books will provide you with some insight as to how bad the Federal Government has screwed up the poor children of this Country. Not only do the foster parents (who know the kids better than anyone else) have no standing in the courts but the very people who should be assisting in the protection of these hurting kids are (much of the time) outright liars, have no feeling for the kids and the management operates ‘by the book.’ There can be NO BOOK for how to handle the cares of children. Each case and each child is different. The judicial system responsible for these cases has GOT to be supportive of the care givers! ANY FEDERAL LAWS MUST BE REPEALED BY THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT AND THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THESE KIDS GIVEN TO THE STATE AND LOCAL CAREGIVERS.

Return Discipline to the Schools.

Our school system was getting along just fine until three things happened:

Unions took over the schools

The Federal Government took over the schools

The liberals took over the schools

Since then, the schools have steadily been going down hill, not only from the standpoint of bad grades but also from the standpoint of the subjects which are taught. The unionization of school teachers has given the unions absolute control of everything in our school system – from what subjects will be taught, to how they will be taught, to how kids are to be handled. Most people do not know it but unions have also kept teachers from getting the pay they deserve for the terribly difficult job they have agreed to take on. Unions have gotten to the point where they are much more detrimental to their constituents than helpful.

The Federal Government (which fosters unionization) and controls a large portion of the purse strings has, by default, terrible control over the whole school system in general. The Federal Government needs to get completely OUT of anything having to do with our school system and give control to the states and local authorities! Also, the courts need to stay completely out of anything having to do with schools.

I could go on and on about the liberal approach to the school system from treating the children with kid gloves to teaching them absolutely ridiculous subjects which have nothing to do with the kids’ future. There is only one way to handle a bully – a bloody nose has always worked. My Dad taught me to never throw the first punch but always throw the last one. He also taught me that if I got in trouble in school I would find myself in even worse hot water at home. He also taught me that my teachers were there to teach me the three Rs and if I wasn’t listening, I wasn’t learning. He also taught me (mostly in the woodshed) that to disobey authority brought harsh consequences. Did I hate my Dad? On the contrary – I loved and admired him immensely! THE CONTROL OF THE SCHOOL SYSTEM MUST BE RETURNED TO THE STATES AND LOCAL AUTHORITIES. THE PARENTS ALSO HAVE GOT TO RETURN TO TAKING AN INTEREST IN WHAT THEIR KIDS ARE DOING AND LEARNING.

Really appreciate this one and will be forwarding this on to all my friends as well as many of the young minds I have the opportunity to be in touch with here at Angelo State University. BTW....Numerous students have been coming to me complaining about one of our professors who teach Federal and State Government. The problem is, he is teaching only out of the book...Voices of Dissent. They also say he is constantly bashing our country and its government. He admits to the class he is full fledged Liberal and that he knows more than them so they are to just listen. Many of the students fear if they stand up to him he will fail them. He is from Scotland. (Name provided on request). I can't believe right here in small town America at a small town University this propaganda is being allowed to be taught as fact.

Return the Schools to Teaching the Three Rs.

The main responsibility of a school system is to provide the learning necessary to go on in life and earn a good salary to support the kids’ family after they are in the work force. First of all, more time in school and less time on homework would be beneficial. Second, the subjects which are taught should provide the children with a sense of belonging to their Country and the history upon which it was founded. Third, all kids MUST know how to read and write at a senior high school level when they graduate from high school! Fourth, all kids MUST know how to control their finances when they graduate. Fifth, all kids MUST know the words to the Country’s National Anthem and the Pledge of Allegiance. Sixth, all kids that graduate from high school MUST be proficient in addition, subtraction, division, multiplication, fractions, decimals (and other base numbers such as binary) and at least to the mathematical level of algebra. Any child that is not capable of passing a graduation test provided by the teachers will remain in his/her grade level for another year! Every child who graduates MUST be able to pass the graduation tests with passing grades. Oh by the way – let’s quit messing with the passing grade. Let’s stick to A, B, C, and D! GET THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT OUT OF THE SCHOOLS AND RETURN THE CONTROL TO STATE AND LOCAL GOVERNMENTS. ONE ADDED NEED – GET THE LIBERAL THINKING OUT OF THE SCHOOL SYSTEM!

Concentrate on Making the U.S. Free of the Need for Foreign Oil.

This one has been discussed by both parties over and over again. Has anything happened? No? Wonder why? Could it be that there is someone (or more than one someone) on the take? Let’s do what needs to be done as far as developing renewable sources of energy, drilling for more oil of our own wherever we find it, developing new sources of energy, etc. REDUCTION IN THE AMOUNT OF CONTROL AND IMPACT THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT AND ENVIRONMENTAL ENTITIES IS DESPERATELY NEEDED ASAP!

We Must Face the Enemy as One United People.

This is such a simple concept it leaves me completely without substance as to why anyone in the Country (who claims to be a patriot) would not understand and fight to make it happen! Does that mean that many of those who claim to be a patriot are really not? Come on guys, let’s work together for a change and see if we can’t solve some of the problems you are getting paid to resolve. I just cannot believe that the leaders of the Country have become so jaded and fearful that they cannot act as a united group of people trying to accomplish the same goals. Protect our Federation, protect our borders, keep us a free state, make the country better, etc. -- all of us (especially our leaders?). THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT MUST LEAD!

Fix Social Security or Junk It.

I wrote my Senator eight different letters on the subject including the one from which I gleaned most of this section. I never got an answer which addressed the problem! I am thoroughly disgusted with the lack of action on the part of the Republican controlled House and Senate which was rightfully kicked out of office in the past election. In the election of 2006, I voted straight Democratic (figuring I’d give the outlandish blathers a chance to correct what they continued to say was bad with no information as to what they would consider good). I had never before in all the years I voted have ever voted straight anything. I always took time to try and understand each nominee and voted for those who I thought most mirrored what I thought would be good for America. It never turned out that way but one can always hope. If an elected representative enters Congress with the right idea, people like Ted Kennedy will rapidly convince them they can get nothing accomplished if he doesn’t agree.

I had hoped since the Republicans had control of both houses of the Congress and the Presidency that Mr. Kennedy would be quashed and something of note would have been accomplished. Instead, except for a tax cut, there was little or nothing accomplished. The 109th Congress will go down in history as the Congress which accomplished the very least of any Congress ever elected. I have always been of the opinion that before any law is passed, three others should be repealed. Our set of laws is like Microsoft Windows. It is so complicated even the designers have no idea what it contains. We have so many laws that should be enforced that are not, and other laws which never should have been enacted in the first place that our set of laws is so complicated that even the people who passed them cannot unravel the ‘ball of spaghetti’.

PROBLEM: The Federal Government seems determined to NOT ALLOW me to retire and enjoy it after working for well over forty years and must continue to do so!

When Social Security was first invented by FDR (big mistake), he told us it was simply an adjunct to any other retirement we might have. The Federal Government has GOT to stop meddling in the Country’s Social affairs. I paid the top money into Social Security for years and following the suggestion of FDR my wife and I agreed between us to save 30% of our salary. We did that throughout our working years and also raised four kids. My wife stayed home and raised the kids – I worked my little tail off to try to live up to FDR suggestion that we consider saving for our own retirement.

Now that we are retired, the Federal Government, in its infinite wisdom, considers 85% of our Social Security as taxable income by the IRS. That means both my wife and I, who are well into our seventies, have to work to pay the extra income tax bill that really dumb law exacts from us. I understand that it is part of the liberals ‘share the wealth policy’ but the policy stinks! Why should I have put all that money and hard work into the Social Security ‘fund’ (misnomer) so that someone else can benefit from my labors? I completely fail to see how not returning my money to me in any way helps someone else. All it does is help keep Social Security from going bankrupt. THAT is a result of the way Congress handles Social Security which, as far as I can see, has NO bearing on whether I should receive the share I legally paid in.

The following is the work sheet to determine taxable Social Security income (which, of course, should never be taxed).

Line 17 is the offending line which defines the problem and is completely unfair to those of us who have worked all our lives to save for a decent retirement. Actually the whole work sheet and the taxation of SS should be eliminated! This describes perfectly why our money (money we worked so hard for) should NEVER EVER be under the control of any part of government, Federal, State or Local!

This also points out what has been said many times: The liberals just do not ever consider how their decisions may affect the American people. Either they only think about how it will affect their ability to spend the American peoples’ money, how it will affect their (perceived) votes or how it will affect them personally. Since they have their own absolutely obnoxious retirement largess what the heck do they care?

I hope this helps the numb nuts in Congress who do not understand how much effort and sweat it takes to develop a livable retirement in this land of taxes, taxes and more taxes! Congress has got to rescind this stupidity even if they do nothing else to the SS system that certainly needs adjustment badly and soon! FEDERAL GOVERNMENT – GET RID OF THIS INSIDIOUS TAXATION!

Get rid of judges who do not make the punishment fit the crime (especially decisions that affect the molestation of our children).

There has been case after case of judges who patted criminals on the back for doing such a good job of molesting children. The most famous case is the judge in Vermont. Vermont is a strange state. New England for years and years was conservative in their voting and the South was mostly Democratic. In the recent past that has turned completely and the New England states are now rabidly Democratic. Is that the influence of New York City people moving into New England? That could be true for CT and maybe MS but VERMONT! Let’s get rid of these mamby pamby judges who believe that pedophiles can be rehabilitated—NO WAY! They need to be kept off the streets and out of our neighborhoods! FEDERAL APPOINTEE BOARDS AND THOSE OF US WHO ELECT JUDGES MUST TAKE NOTICE SOON AND NOT ONLY PLACE GOOD JUDGES ON THE BENCH BUT GET RID OF THOSE WHO ARE UNWILLING TO ENFORCE THE LAWS.

Get rid of frivolous lawsuits (people certainly should not benefit from their own stupid mistakes).

It is about time we appointed (or elected) judges who follow the laws enacted by the Federal Government Congress and the various State legislatures rather than making new laws or subverting the existing laws. Judges (I always was told) apply the law to each case. It is time to stop paying people for hurting themselves! The most famous case, of course, is the McDonald’s hot coffee case (which I’m sure got blown way out of proportion like every other news story. The frivolous lawsuits initiated by trial lawyers apparently are necessary to keep the millions of lawyers in business. There are so many lawyers they have to invent ways to stay in business (and they are doing a good job I might add). THE PEOPLE HAVE GOT TO DEMAND THAT THE COURTS NOT EVEN TAKE A CASE WHICH WILL HAVE MONEY OR SOCIAL IMPLICATIONS INVOLVED.

Provide some common sense when judging suits in the medical and dental systems. (Its stupid for the need of doctors and dentists to protect themselves from lawsuits is so high they go out of business) causing a shortage of medical and dental doctors in some areas.

The country can no longer stand the absolutely insane judgments in the medical profession lawsuits. Everyone cries about the rising cost of healthcare, the loss of doctors in certain parts of the Country, the terrifically high cost of malpractice insurance, etc. If the courts will not control themselves the states have GOT to pass laws which will curtail the number of cases in court by prescreening for legitimate cases and controlling the amounts (as is done for criminal judges in their guidelines). Fewer cases in court will also help to clear the huge backlogs of cases. LOCAL STATE ASSEMBLIES MUST BEGIN TO ENACT LAWS TO CONTROL THE NUMBER OF CASES AND THE IDIOTICALLY HIGH JUDGMENTS. Oh, by the way, more judges need to be appointed who will not allow frivolous lawsuits of any kind to be brought before the courts. A good example is the stupidity of the judge who brought a suit of millions of dollars against a tailor who lost his pants. The case was decided in favor of the tailor (thank goodness)! I really expected he would lose, especially since the suit was brought by another judge!

Pass a limit on the number of times a Congressman can run for office (term limits).

Again, I can just hear Ted Kennedy and Bob Byrd now talking to a group of newly elected Senators – “No matter how gung ho you may have been when you were sworn in, you will accomplish nothing unless we approve it.” OBVIOUSLY THIS IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE CONGRESS (Don’t hold your breath – you’ll turn purple).

Reduce the size of the Federal government by getting rid of the many unnecessary agencies (IRS, education and any agency having to do with the control of social agendas).

The fair tax, when implemented, will get rid of one HUGE bureaucracy. If the responsibility which was indicated in any of the above asks for the responsibility to be given to the states or local agencies each of them will reduce the size of the Federal government. OBVIOUSLY THIS NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED BY CONGRESS.

Get rid of added riders on bills. Let every bill stand alone with no ‘add ons’ or riders.

Pass a line item veto for the President so that he can help you with Number 28.

Accept no budget from the President which is not balanced. President – do not send to Congress any budget which is not balanced.

This should be self explanatory but I’ll bet its not! I mean SPEND NO MORE THAN YOU WILL TAKE IN and oh by the way, take in less and less which means reduce the budget more each year! CONGRESS AND THE PRESIDENT WORKING TOGETHER – WHAT A CONCEPT!

Repeal the law which OKs burning of the flag or make a law that it is not OK!

I’m not sure this is a law but it was certainly a ruling from the Supreme Court who apparently completely forgot that we should have at least a semblance of patriotism left. CONGRESS HAS GOT TO OVERRULE THE COURT ON THIS ONE.

Make English the official language of the Country. (This seems like a stupid thing to require in an English speaking country, doesn’t it)?

If necessary this should be an Amendment to the Constitution. (As an aside – I wonder how much good this would do since the liberals have more and more completely forgotten we have such a thing as the Constitution – especially the judicial system. CONGRESS- LET’S GET GOING!

Pass enough laws (or better yet, enforce those we have) to make sure our Judeo-Christian heritage remains just that without interference from anyone or anything.

Also, before passing any bill, find at least three that can be repealed. When deliberating on any new or old law always consider what your decision will do to the Country and its citizens in the future. (In the future is most important – it is time to debate in both the Senate and the House with America in mind)!

Congress prides themselves on the number of bills they have passed into law. A better measure would be to pride themselves on the number of laws which were passed that enhance the ease of living, reduction of taxes, all freedoms given to us in the Constitution, care of unfortunate children, etc., the number of laws they repealed and the reduction in the size of the Federal Government in the process. AGAIN CONGRESS IS RESPONSIBLE!

Develop a code of ethics for Congress to ensure total honesty in our elected officials by strictly following an ethics package and duly punishing those who do not strictly follow it.

(Strange that I even need to mention this). The Democrats promised that in the 2006 election – Oh yeah!

The ethics package should include a provision that all elected officials concentrate on doing what’s best for the Country and its people rather than thinking only about getting re-elected. Nifong is a good example and there are many more examples in Congress! OBVIOUSLY, CONGRESS MUST IMPLEMENT THIS ONE.

I have noticed the number of these 34 items I identified as ‘Congress must handle.’ Why is that when I want the Federal Government out of anything social? The reason is because they have constantly (mostly at the request of the minorities) stuck their head into every situation that it should have left completely alone! Therefore it is necessary for them to ‘unhook’ the mess they made before the states can take over control they never should have lost in the first place. There is so much ‘unfairness’ in all of this it is difficult to write in such a way that the unfairness is obvious. Hopefully I have done enough to get the point across. For years the thinking of Congress has slipped farther and farther into the abyss and the trap of the federal Government controlling our every move, thought and desire. What does that bring us to? – Anarchy and dictatorship! That is what the liberals want to drive the Country toward and why we, as citizens, must continuously fight to save our beloved freedom! To do this we have JUST GOT to be more diligent in whom we elect to any position, no matter at what level of government! AND no matter who we elect, we unfortunately, will have to watch very closely. We cannot allow important subjects like immigration to get away from us again!

The final question, of course, is: Why do we have such a long list of items which require doing? Where have our elected officials been? Where are the leaders? What has happened to our Country? How is it that either a Republican led Congress or a Congress led by Democrats accomplishes little more than raising taxes, increase spending and spending money on pork barrel projects? One would think if the amount of effort required to pass ‘non-binding’ resolutions and chasing ghosts was done away with it might just allow some of the above legislation to get done!

I sincerely hope the list gives Congress enough to do to keep them busy and headed in the right direction in getting the Country back on track. By the way, the list of 34 is small compared to the total of what needs to be done (or undone).

By the way – my idea of voting straight Democratic worked about as well as I expected – No difference! One little thing Ms. Pelosi promised – make the ‘tag on’ (earmarks) surprises on each bill public (or at least available to the Congress before the vote) fell right on its butt, as one might expect! When can we expect that politicians will start doing what they say they will? Hmm – I certainly wouldn’t expect that in the near future would you? Certainly not as long as the liberals are in power, anyway!
